Cadhay House and Gardens: seasonal open days

At Cadhay, four carved Tudor monarchs look into the central courtyard. The house near Ottery St Mary combines this architectural detail with guided visits and gardens containing much older fishponds. It is a good fit for guests who like a garden outing with a building and its history to explore.

House tours include the Long Gallery and Roof Chamber and take about an hour. You can also choose garden-only entry. Behind the house, allotments occupy the former kitchen gardens, putting working vegetable plots alongside the more formal planting.

Choose a published open day

Cadhay is not open daily throughout the year. Its public programme uses seasonal open days, with the house and gardens following the estate's calendar. The official open-day page explains admission and tour arrangements. Contact the estate about access to the rooms you want to visit.

Dogs on leads are welcome in the gardens and on the terrace. That permission does not cover a house tour, so dog-owning parties should plan a garden visit or take turns with someone staying outside.

From Primrose Cottages, Cadhay adds a destination around Ottery St Mary to a countryside holiday. Burrow Farm Gardens is another planting-led choice with a different visiting pattern.
