Seaton Tramway: explore the Axe Valley by tram
Seaton Tramway follows the Axe Valley between Seaton and Colyton, with Colyford on the route. The heritage electric trams turn travel into an outing in its own right, passing estuary scenery that contrasts with the hills around Primrose Cottages.
A family can make the ride the main activity, while visitors interested in birds can combine it with time at the wetlands when access and the timetable allow. The route offers things to watch without requiring everyone to complete a long walk.
Trams and wetlands have different dog rules
Dogs can travel on the lower decks of standard tram services. Pet dogs cannot enter Seaton Wetlands. If your dog is coming, stay with the tramway outing and other permitted stops; do not plan to leave the dog alone at your cottage. Our Wetlands guide explains the reserve separately.
There are toilets at Seaton and Colyton stations but none on the trams. Accessible travel depends on the vehicle and passenger requirements. Use the operator's access guidance and the timetable for your visit date, particularly when planning a stop between journeys.
Back at Primrose Farm, your cottage offers an inland base for comparing these coastal and valley landscapes over the course of a holiday.
