Wildwood Devon: wildlife, woodland and play
Wildwood Devon at Escot combines British wildlife with woodland and play. Bears, wolves and red squirrels are among the animals represented, giving families an opportunity to learn about species that they are unlikely to encounter during an ordinary country walk. A reconstructed Saxon village adds a separate historical interest.
This is an outdoor-led day from Primrose Cottages, with indoor and outdoor play available. Animal visibility varies, so a visit should be about observing what is active and exploring the park, without expecting every animal to be on view.
Plan carefully if you have a dog
Wildwood does not admit dogs, including assistance dogs, and prohibits leaving dogs in its car park. The Devon park offers an escorted-visit arrangement for visitors who would otherwise use an assistance dog, booked in advance.
Primrose's rules also prohibit leaving dogs alone in the cottage. A dog-owning party therefore needs someone to remain with the dog elsewhere, or should choose a different outing, such as Burrow Farm Gardens.
Paths include compacted gravel, roots and gradients. Consult the park's accessible-route information for your needs. The current programme lists activities and tickets; individual experiences have separate booking conditions.
