Dog-friendly cottage stays in East Devon
View full photoStargazer and Greenfields welcome up to two dogs under the cottage rules. Both sleep four in a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, with a kitchen and outdoor space at Primrose Farm.
A farm with dogs of its own
Our four collies are part of everyday life here. Jess is learning sheep work, while Beau is still more interested in playing with her. Their home is also home to livestock and chickens, so your dog’s holiday needs to work around the farm as well as the cottage.
The lead rule around livestock still applies, even if the farm’s own dogs are nearby. Meet the resident animals and use the rules below when planning your stay.
Choose the right cottage
Greenfields has both bedrooms and a wet room on one floor. Stargazer has a downstairs twin bedroom and shower room, with the double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Compare the photographs and the full cottage details.
Dog rules at the farm
Dogs must not be left alone in the cottage or allowed on beds. Clear up after them and keep them on leads around livestock. Greenfields has enclosed decking, but this is not a guarantee against escape.
Outings with your dog
Otterhead Lakes is a woodland option where dogs need to be on leads. Beer Quarry Caves permits well-behaved dogs on leads for its guided tours, with a loud demonstration during the visit. It operates seasonally.
Pet dogs are not admitted at Seaton Wetlands. As they cannot be left alone at the cottage, choose a dog-permitted outing together, or split the visit so someone remains with them. Do not plan the reserve as an automatic stop on a dog walk.
Our walking guides link to land managers' route information and restrictions.
